sign here kimono.

Kimono: Sign Here c/o | Tank: American Eagle (similar) | Jeans: Baldwin (The Ten fit) | Wedges: Lucky Brand   (love these too) | Sunnies: Karen Walker dupes from Amazon

I've been loving this kimono for summer. My uniform lately has been some form of denim paired with a cute top. This kimono is light weight and perfect for adding a unique twist to my closet (let's be real, I have a lot of neutrals). For this look I paired it with my favorite jeans, some fun wedges (borrowed from my roomie - thanks Abbey!), and the perfect mod sunnies.

What are some of your go-to pieces to mix up your wardrobe?

Dress: Sign Here c/o | Shoes: Arturo Chiang | Sunnies: RayBan | Watch: Apple

Guys! Welcome to my KC neighborhood!
I'm finally settled and I'm ready to get more posts up! (Fingers crossed) Anyways, I'm so excited to announce a GIVEAWAY in partnership with Sign Here. I'll be giving away this super comfy t-shirt dress to one lucky follower!
Y'all know I love my simple pieces. This dress is seriously one of my favorites - I wish I had every color. I love having an effortless, go-to outfit in the morning. And as always, the tall girl in me loves the length!

So how do you snag one of these? All details are listed in this Instagram

Contest will end at 7pm CST on Wednesday, July 27. Good luck!

color pop.

Top: Old Navy | Skirt: Express (on sale!) | Shoes: Boutique find (love these) | Sunnies: RayBan

As most you know, I love my simple pieces, however this skirt was too fun to pass up! I mean, it's perfect for summer. Is it not? For this look I went with a versatile oxford, but I've also worn it with a simple black tee. It's a fun pop of color so I wanted my to keep my other pieces subdued.

Also as far as a life update goes, I'm officially living in Kansas City! I'm finally all settled and am loving this new home! If you have any thing I should add to my KC to-do list, let me know :)

Top: Lucy and Lyla (similar) | Jeans: Madewell | Shoes: Steve Madden (similar) | Bag: Fossil | Sunnies: Karen Walker dupes from Amazon

I just gotta say, I'm a fan of flares. I'm really diggin' the mod look. I chose to pair these jeans with a cute, flowy top and my big sunnies. These jeans are so flattering. They hug real nice in the hips and thighs, then nicely flare at the knee. Flares are often paired with wedges but I've also paired mine with little white tennis shoes. So they are versatile in so many ways! Also I'm obsessed with this bag I got for graduation. It's smaller than some of my other bags, but it can hold a ton! Definitely a great tote that goes with so many looks!

How do you like to style your flares?

{thank you to Kelli for snapping my pics}

i call it my safari skirt.

Top: Old Navy | Skirt: Banana Republic | Shoes: Steve Madden (similar) | Bag: Fossil | Sunnies: Lucky Brand

As mentioned in the title, I call this my safari skirt. Not that I'd actually wear this on safari, but it has that feel. I love the neutral tones, but I especially love the shape of this skirt. It's so flattering. I think this piece will be a great basic to wear to work. I kept this look very neutral, but it will be fun to mix some color with this skirt as well!

What do you like to wear to work in the summer?

my mizzou story.

I wanted to write a blog post capturing everything about my four years at the University of Missouri (if that’s possible) and what my plans are moving forward. As well as show case my grad pics done by the wonderful Tori Vaughan!

Disclaimer: this could get cheesy and overly heartfelt.

When I was looking for a college I knew I wanted to go some where beyond my hometown of Springfield, MO. We have multiple colleges here, but I knew if I stayed I wouldn’t become as independent as I needed to be. I’m an only child and I’m very close to my parents, but I knew I needed to take that leap of faith for myself.

I chose Mizzou because it was far enough away, but close enough to come home whenever I wanted. My dad also went to Mizzou, so it has always felt right.

My first semester at Mizzou was rough. I was lonely and homesick. However, my parents told me I had to stay that entire first semester. Even though I started to make friends in my dorm and at my campus ministry, The Rock, I told everyone I was going home at semester.

Obviously, I didn’t and honestly it was a total God thing. He knew Mizzou was where I needed to be. The Rock was a campus ministry I quickly got plugged into and it became my saving grace for my four years here. It could honestly be a post in itself!

Flash forward through four amazing years of growing in my faith, making amazing friends, gaining 300+ Alpha Chi Omega sisters, and creating so many memories with roommates - I graduated from the #1 journalism school in the country.

Mizzou equipped me with the skills needed to place me in a career right out of college. S/O to MOJO Ad for being one of the best experiences. I know more about BENGAY® than I’d ever like to (they were our client).

I have so many people to thank for the past four years, but I owe a ton of thanks to my parents. They made me stick it out that first semester and they allowed me to have this opportunity. The encouragement they provided over and over again was SO needed. They’re truly awesome.

I’m so excited, yet nervous, to embark on a new chapter in Kansas City. Graduation is so bittersweet, but I have a feeling this next step will be amazing.

Dress: Tobi c/o | Hat: MarGorgeous Boutique (located in Springfield, MO) | Sandals: Target (similar) | Watch: Fossil (similar) | Necklace: Gorjana

When it comes to spring and summer attire, I love having cotton dresses ready to throw on. This cute baby doll dress is perfect for that and I already know it will be a go-to piece in my closet. It will also make for a great tunic when fall rolls around paired with cuffed jeans.

Creating looks that are this effortless are such a win in my book.
Don't forget that your first purchase from Tobi is 50% off (which is where this adorable dress is from!).

seventy five and sunny.

Romper: Tobi c/o | Tee: Similar | Shoes: Rocketdog (similar to Converse) | Necklace: Gorjana | Sunnies: Karen Walker dupes from Amazon

I recently got this cute denim romper from Tobi and love how practical it is. I chose to keep it casual and wear a plain striped tee and tennis shoes with it. The "overall" look is super simple and my favorite part of the romper are the adjustable straps. They make this romper wearable for all heights! It is so hard to find in a romper for us tall ladies.

Not to mention, your first purchase from Tobi is 50% off!

Also, I'm so sorry I've terrible at blogging, but I'm SO close to being done with school. It's a whirlwind and I have so many mixed emotions about it. I plan to do a post all about it. I can't wait to see where the Lord leads me after graduation and I hope to have so much more time to dedicate to Just Kate!

my home away from home. part two.

As promised, I did a second overview of my room at school. If you didn't see my first post, check it out here. As mentioned before, I've loved making this space my own. For this post, I focused on my desk area. So between the two posts, you basically get a whole sense of what my room is like. As the post goes on, I've added links to all of the pieces or have found similar ones for you as well.

Everyone has "a chair". You know...the one that spends more time collecting clothes than you spend sitting in it? LOL. I do love this chair, but it is so true! While I want to come off as neat as possible, we all have our secrets ;)

My bulletin board is a DIY. I simply took a plain bulletin board, wrapped it in fabric, stapled it, and added hooks for hanging.

I also just realized after looking at this picture I need to change my calendar to March. Oops!

Lalalalalove this hook from MarGorgeous Boutique.

I've loved this little white desk. It has been perfect for my space!

These baskets have been great for accommodating my growing movie collection. They're so versatile and I know they'll be used for years to come!

If you saw my instagram the other day, I joked this tray (similar here) makes eating in bed seem a little more classy. I eat in my room a lot, so it's been perfect for that.

Annddd if you know me, I do love a good candle! I have three on rotation a the moment.

My sweet friend Micayla painted this for me. I love its beautiful reminder.

Lastly, I debated on what to do with these pom-poms hanging for a while. Finally, I settled on this placement. It's fun addition for being a $3 find at Target. Speaking of, I've noticed (almost) everything linked in this post is from Target. And no, Target did not sponsor this post - I wish!

Hope you enjoyed my room tour!
