Sweater: original frenchi  Striped Tee: The Limited | Jeans: Aeropostale c/o | Booties: Target (love these!| Bracelet: Loren Hope

For this relaxed look I pulled out my booties and paired them with this comfy sweater. I layered it with a striped tee underneath and slipped on some boyfriend jeans. The heeled bootie gives this look a feminine edge, while still looking and feeling totally relaxed. I've had this sweater in my closet for a while now and it never disappoints when the fall months roll around.

Have a great Wednesday!

"the soup"

My roommate and I have this soup recipe that we're crazy about. So much so, we call it "The Soup".
Yeah, it's that epic.
Also, being college students we just get excited about making anything remotely gourmet.
(Aka it didn't come in a box)
Crockpot meals are great for all households, but especially for college students. Sure it takes planning, but with how many servings you get out of it, it's really inexpensive.

I shared the recipe for our Mexican soup on the Lala. You can check it out HERE.
If you do try it, let me know!

P.S. The soup itself is lactose and gluten free!

Dress: Boohoo Shoes: Lauren Conrad | Necklace: Gorjana | Bracelet: Loren Hope

Everyone needs a little black dress. Or multiple.

I love this one because of how casual it is. Swing dresses are becoming very popular and I wanted to get this dress so that I could easily dress it up (like I did here) or dress it down. It's perfect for events ranging from game days to a nice dinner. I can't wait to style it in multiple ways!

I also wanted to show off this Gorjana V-neck necklace that came in my RocksBox. It's my favorite piece and I can't bring myself to send it back...or buy it (lol). So I keep wearing it debating on what to do. I just love how it layers with my diamond pendant. They're like two peas in a pod!

better things ahead - freebie

I thought it would be a fun idea to give y'all free lock screen downloads ever so often!
So here's the first one :)

It reads, "There are far far better things ahead than any we leave behind" - C.S. Lewis

If you have problems with the sizing especially for the iPhone 6 and 4, let me know.
I'd love to fix it!

It's that time again when I update you on my life via the pictures from my instagram...

'Tis the season for breaking out your favorite boots

Anytime my parents come visit me at the Zou, it's a good weekend.

I've loved my first Rocks Box so much. Want a free month? It's on me: http://curebit.com/x/UK6pig

We'd like to attribute H&M to our matching.

Because sometimes I just have to throw pictures from Uganda on your timeline.

This is a candid picture of me becoming friends with a goat.

Anddd that's all folks! If you want more lovely pics (like my goat pics), follow me @kateaustin3 on insta!
Have a lovely day!

shades of gray

Pullover: Aeropostale c/o (similar| Tank: Victoria's Secret | Sports Bra: Gap (similar
Leggings: Aeropostale c/o (only $12 right now!) | Shoes: Nike Flyknit Fitbit

I love featuring work out looks because my every day attire usually consists of leggings and a tshirt/tank of some kind (oh the life of a college student). I try and occasionally mix it up by incorporating fun leggings into my wardrobe and I'm obsessed with these ombré leggings!

The fact they're gray makes it perfect for pairing them with almost any color top. Just a tip though, they run really small (I usually wear XS leggings and had to return these for a M).

For this look I decided to add pops of color because my shoes have so many colors in them as well. And of course, I can't go anywhere without my Fitbit.
Gotta count those steps!

Happy Friday!

all about phone cases

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

I've come to find that I'm not alone when it comes to loving phone cases! They're the perfect accessory and I love finding a good case that suits my personality. I love all of these for different reasons, like how hilarious #2 is (you may have to click the link to read what all it says). And can someone who owns a french bulldog buy that case so I can live variously through you? Dream dog.

Each of these come from sites I regularly stalk for a good case. Society 6 however has a plethora of cases to suit anyone's style.

Happy case shopping!

more stripes, please.

Sweater: H&M Chambray: Old Navy | Jeans: Lucky Brand (similar| Boots: Steve Madden Necklace: F21
Bag: The Limited

In the town I go to school to, we recently had an H&M open up. And let me tell you, that's bad news. Well, for my wallet anyways. Of course the two things I bought were striped items, one being this sweater. Which I adore! It's perfect alone or for layering.

For this look I layered it with a chambray top and added a statement necklace, boots, and jeans. It's a classic look while staying casual. It's definitely a new go-to look for me!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

beautiful africa. part 2.

This is part two of my trip and I've been sitting at my computer contemplating what to write about in this post. Because there's just so much. There are funny stories, there are safari stories, and then there are the stories that can only be told face to face because they're so personal. So if you ever want to dig deep with me, email me, call me, text me.

However, I will say one of my favorite moments was reuniting with our sponsor child. This was so special to me, because I had met him three years before. So seeing his growth and how well he was doing was awesome. Being an only child, I consider him to be the sibling I never had. He's my little brother and having him in our lives is so special. I hope to one day reunite with him again. If you're at all interested in sponsoring a Watoto child or want to know more, I'd love to talk with you!
My mom sent me this adorable frame of my dad and me with him. Such a special meaningful addition to my room.

Another highlight for me was being able to watch my dad talk with a bunch of cell leaders (aka community group leaders) about evangelizing. So watching him stand up there and pour out into these leaders what he knows and loves was really cool. I'm so grateful to have a dad who loves the Lord and loves people.

We also went on a short safari and I don't have a lot of great pictures from it this time (due the fact we weren't able to get super close to the animals) but morning drives are absolutely breath taking. Sure rolling out of bed before the sun comes out is super hard, but it's totally worth it.

My other favorite part of safari was being able to see Murchison Falls. It's a waterfall on the Nile that is amazing. And it was way more powerful than I could have ever imagined. I really encourage any one who goes on missions in Africa to take time for a safari because you truly get to appreciate all of God's glory in these beautiful places.

(excuse the man blurred/chopped off in my panorama haha)

Like I said, I have hundreds of pictures to share and I have hundreds of stories to share, so if you have any questions, let me know! If you missed part one, you can find it HERE

Have a great day!
