my book list.

One of my favorite parts about summer is crawling into bed at night and reading some good books. Or by the pool or the back porch in the evening. Basically anywhere! I'm such a bookworm when I have time! So, I thought I'd share with you some of my recent favorite reads.

1) I started the Divergent series by Veronica Roth last summer and absolutely love them! I finished off Insurgent this summer and can't wait for her new release in the fall. They're the futuristic, action packed books that are comparable to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

2) Which brings me to the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. (I have a thing for series and dystopian centered books). Once again, they're action packed and leave you wanting more. Totally recommend both of these series.

Right now, I've switched over from the action packed series books to Jesus is_____. by Judah Smith. I've heard nothing but good things about this book and have wanted to read it for a while. I'm just past the first chapter and love Judah's writing style. Therefore, I'm already recommending this!

1 & 2) On my lists of upcoming books I want to finish off the Divergent and Delirium series. I'll have to wait till the fall for Allegiant, so if you have any great reads for me I'd love to hear them!

maxi dress 3 ways: {part 3}

It's here! The last styling of my maxi dress three ways!
With each of these looks I tried to keep them as light and simple as possible for summer.
For this last look, I chose to knot a belt at my waist to give it more definition. I topped it off with a bubble statement necklace!

Dress: Color Thread (from local boutique: Staxx|  Sandals: Target  | Necklace: Very Jane

So I must ask, which of the three was your favorite?

Have a lovely Tuesday,

this happened.

I'm so honored to be Lauren Conrad's Chic of the Week this week. When I found out I screamed (if you know me, I rarely scream) and couldn't stop bouncing around. I wrote on my Instagram for this picture that this is the ultimate highlight of my week, month, and blogging career. And it doesn't stop there! Everyone has been so supportive of me and sharing my excitement with those around me truly makes it that much better.
So thank you to everyone who liked/shared my photo on Facebook, thank you to everyone who tweeted about it, thank you to everyone who sent encouraging messages my way, and thank you to everyone who keeps up with my blog.
I love blogging, but knowing there are people out there who look at my blog and fully support me makes it that much more special.

I'll now step off my soap box :)

brown + white.

Top: Apricot Lane (old) | Jeans: American Eagle | Wedges: Madden Girl | Necklace: The Limited

I took a spin off the classic black and white trend and did a look with brown and white! As I mentioned before, I love my white jeans. I paired them with this brown top that has a peplum feel to it. I love its lace detailing in the back and belted waist. It's a unique top. To finish off the look, I added some brown wedges. For a more casual look, flats would work too!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! :)

what's going on?

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend celebrating the dads in your life! My dad and I had a great day golfing together and today is actually my mom's birthday! So, happy birthday mom! :)
 But anyways, this is just a little peek into my recent instagrams:

On a more serious note, the newest member of our family is 3 months old and is facing horrible heart problems. This sweet baby has already had two complex heart surgeries. When things were looking up after the second surgery, the roller coaster ride continued. Caleb has been put on a transplant list for a new heart, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be strong enough to accept one. If you're willing you pray for this sweet boy, we ask that you pray the Lord will strengthen Caleb so that when the time comes he'll be able to accept a new heart. I ask that you pray for his family. Everyday I can't fathom what they're going through as I read the most recent updates.

If you want to join in prayer and be kept up to date with his condition, you can check out his Facebook page HERE

Thank you, as always, for reading.

maxi dress 3 ways: {part 2}

Dress: Color Thread (from local boutique: Staxx|  Sandals: Target (similar|  Scarf: Very Jane

This is the second way I styled my maxi dress. I swapped out my chambray for a colorful floral scarf. Scarfs are not just for fall and winter and sometimes we forget that. (I do!) I tied this one like an infinity scarf, but with the countless ways to tie a scarf you can easily turn this into multiple looks. This makes for a great weekend look for shopping or going to a BBQ.

On that note, TGIF!
Hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day weekend!

white & neutral.

Top: Anthropologie  |  Jeans: American Eagle  |  Bag: (old)  |  Wedges: Target

I believe that every one should give white jeans a chance. They're so versatile and I find myself reaching for these more often in the spring and summer months than I do any other jeans. I chose to wear them with an adorable tank that has the cutest stitching at the top. I left this look neutral so that the top and my bag could be the pops of color for this look. With all that being said, if you don't already own a pair of white jeans, try some on the next time you're out!

a touch of prep.

 Top: Ralph Lauren (old) | Jeans: F21 | Bag: Gianni Bini (old) | Phone Case: J.Crew (not available online) | Sunglasses:Target  | Wedges: Target

I really like looks that have a preppy feel to them. They're clean, crisp, and professional. I decided to take a striped button down and pair it with a pair of skinny jeans (cuffed) and some wedges. This bag is amazing. I've had it for years now and it's still holding up. It's my everyday bag and holds so much. Although, after purchasing this cheetah print phone case I realized it may not have been the best decision seeing as it is almost the same print as the interior of my bag. It blends in perfectly and I'm already finding myself frantically searching for my camouflaged phone every day (story of my life haha!).
Wish you all a wonderful weekend!

maxi dress 3 ways: {part 1}

Maxi: Color Thread (from local boutique: Staxx) | Chambray: Marshall's | Headband: F21 | Sandals: Target | Bag: (old)

I love maxis! Maxi dresses and maxi skirts. They're long and flowing which make them perfect for summer and spring. I'm going to style this maxi three ways during the month of June!

The first way I chose to style this was to add a chambray and knot it. This defines the waist and adds a little warmth to this razor back dress. To add in some color, I chose to pair this look with a bright orange hobo bag and sandals with a vibrant print.
Like I said in my previous post, I'm loving head wraps and headbands. It's becoming one of my favorite ways to accessorize!

Be on the look out for the two other ways I styled this maxi this month!
