a year in review. 2013.

Holy cow! I know everyone says this, but where did this year go? I started my blog exactly one year ago tomorrow (January 1st). I plan to do a special one year birthday post this week with lots of special thanks to everyone who has helped me out along the way. (So keep an eye out for that!)
As for now, on this fine New Year's Eve, I leave you with my favorite looks of 2013.

As I said, check back for my special celebratory post for Just Kate's one year birthday!
Thank you all for reading!
Happy New Year!

Y'all know I love a great simple, everyday outfit. I was lucky to get some amazing weather for these photos but I live in my Hunter boots when it snows. I got this adorable beanie from Aeropostale and love it! I decided to keep the look dark and sleek. Not too much, but not too little.

I've been on the hunt for a good fur vest with out breaking the bank and was so excited to find this one at Aeropostale. It's on sale for about 1/2 off right now for about $40. You seriously can't beat that. It's such a good staple to have in my wardrobe and I can't wait to pair it with other pieces in my closet. As for now, I'm staying inside and keeping warm because of all the snow we've had. (Obviously these pictures were taken before the winter weather hit! haha)

Also, I'm off to Chicago this weekend, so feel free to follow me along via Instagram during my trip!

Sweater: Boutique Find  | Top: The Limited  | Necklace: F21 | Bag: Gianni Bini  | Coffee: Kaldi's :)

Because I love my dear friend Casey's work, I had to share a few extra pictures for my last part of sweater weather. For my final look, I choose to feature this long navy sweater. I paired my go to striped top and a statement necklace with this look. This sweater can easily weigh down a look so I wanted to pair it with a lighter colored top underneath. A sweater used for outer wear like this one is a great staple piece to have. I love wearing it with jeans and casual top like this one, but I also often throw it on with a casual dress as well.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this mini series on sweaters. I’m warning you when I say this isn’t the last time you’ll being seeing these pieces. I love them all too much and have tons of styling ideas coming your way this winter.
Let me know which sweater is your favorite!

I love the color olive. I know we're transitioning into winter (wahhh) but I love this color for the fall. I also have to say that I love my new tote bag. My mom scored this with some great discounts for my birthday. It will be perfect for carrying around my laptop to class.
Speaking of class, only 10 more days until my winter break starts!
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

sweater weather {part 2}

I recently instagrammed this look as an OOTD (outfit of the day) and thought I'd make it my part two of sweater weather.

I’m highlighting this fun, aztec print sweater. Since it’s an open sweater, it allows for tons of mix and matching. I choose to pull the burnt orange color from the sweater and wear my complementing crochet top (which you may remember from a recent post) underneath. I left the jewelry to a minimum again just because there are already so many prints and textures going on in this look. It’s the perfect fall sweater that you won’t be seeing the last of because of how versatile it is.

TV debut.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share with you the segment I was on for our school's TV program, MUTV. It was such a fun experience and I'm always thrilled to talk about my blog! Check out the full interview HERE

It’s just not fall or winter with out a good sweater. They’re warm, soft, and come in a variety of different styles. You can’t go wrong with a cable knit or a cardigan. They make for great layering and can be really chic if styled well. In a three part series I’ll share with you my favorite sweater looks. I kept my bottoms and shoes basic to really highlight each sweater. My complementing pieces are some of my favorites. All looks are effortless and comfortable.

For this first look, I’m highlighting one of my favorites. It’s a chunky knit, with an awesome neckline. It’s basically like having a built in scarf. To style this look I didn’t want to add any necklaces, because the neckline already has enough going on. Instead, I added two small bracelets and let the sweater steal the show. A styling change for this sweater would be to put your hair in a top knot and add some statement earrings. To make this look a little edgier, add some black leather leggings and black heels for night out!

fall boho.

Top: Thrifted  |  Jeans: F21  |  Headband: Aeropostale c/o

Don't get me wrong, I love fall. The crisp air and changing leaves are great, but when did it just skip to winter? It's freezing already! And I refuse to pull out my winter coat.
Therefore, this look would not be ideal for today seeing as I did pull out my scarf and gloves.
Have a great week!
